Samsung and Apple are the two leading brands when it comes to smartwatches. Both of them offer a wide range of collections with different features and versions of the Smartwatch.

Being the best rivals, I always thought about connecting them both to check their compatibility together. And I did it!

I tried to connect a Samsung smartwatch with my iPhone. A few months ago, I tried to connect my iPhone to one of my friend’s Galaxy Active 2.

Does Samsung Watch Work With iPhones?

Yes, Samsung Watches do work with iPhones, but to a limited extent. You can access the applications; you will be notified with your notifications or calls, but you will face a few limitations. 

Limitations of using Galaxy Watch with iPhone

  • You can receive the calls over your watch, but you cannot communicate from the Smartwatch. 
  • You cannot reply or sync the messages for emails, messengers, apps, etc. 
  • The Samsung device feature is unavailable when connected to the iPhone.
  • You can download only free apps or limited apps on the Samsung Watch. 
  • Availability and compatibility may vary as per the Operation System.

Samsung Watch with an Android Phone

The Galaxy Watch is more compatible with the Samsung smartphones than any other variant. All you need to ensure is that:

  • Galaxy watch should be powered by Android 5.0, and RAM should be 1.5 GB or higher. 
  • Your smartphone must be powered by Android 4.3, and RAM should be 1.5 GB or higher. 
  • You need to download the Galaxy Wearable app.

Samsung Watch with iPhone

If you have an iPhone and Galaxy watch, you can connect it, but you have to ensure the following things.

  • Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2 are compatible with iOS 9 or above.
  • Gear Live, Gear S2, Gear Fit 2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Gear Fit2 Pro are compatible with iPhone 5, which have iOS 9 or above. 
  • Galaxy Fit is compatible with iPhone 7, i.e., iOS 10 or later.
  • You need to download the Galaxy Wearable App from the app store.

Note: Gear 1, Gear 2, Gear S, Gear Fit are not compatible with iPhone.

How To Connect Your Galaxy Watch To Your iPhone

You need to follow the basic steps:

Step 1: Download the Galaxy Wearable app on your iPhone from the App store. 

Step 2: Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your iPhone.

Step 3: Tap on Start Journey → Select Galaxy Watch.

Step 4: When you find Galaxy Watch on your iPhone, Tap Connect → Tap Pair. 

And, you are ready to go now.
